So, this weekend we did the big move! Halloran became a resident in her brother's room. I was so nervous to start the process. I knew we should be doing it soon, but a kind shove from my midwife the week before really got us moving.
So Saturday Tom went and picked upt the FREE twin mattresses that I had found on CraigsList the day before. I knew that they were used by small children during their potty training years and I figured we were doing the same so "...what the hay?" When he brought them home, they were a little rougher than what I had anticipated, so I was somewhat dissapointed. But, Tom cleaned them up really good and we let them sit outside all day and then we Lysol'd the begeezes out of them and then an antibacterial Febreeze spray down. Plus two mattress pads and a vinyl mattress waterproof cover. SO, that put me more at ease with the free mattress situation! Then I took the kids to the park to meet a c0-worker who took the time to take some picture of my kids (I can't stand taking them to walmart where I spend a ton of money for ok pics). Halloran who is usually super happy to be outside and get dirty was super serious and clingy that day, so, it was an interesting time, but it went well and we g0t some great photos!
Then we went to Wally World where Brady got to pick out his Sheet Set for his bed. He could pick between Diego, Sponge Bob (please say no, please say no), SpiderMan and Cars. AND....he chose Cars, good ol' Lightning McQueen and Mater. Gotta love the Mater. Then I though, hmmm I should go pick out some toddler crib/bed sheets for Halloran that are more girly (other than the neutral pastels we had been using for her in the nursery). You know what they had??? Dora or Princesses. My daughter is not the princess type....maybe Dora, but she's one! She doesn't know who Dora is! So I thought I'd check out online this week. It's tricky with her, because she seems to be more adventurous, daring, plays with dinosaurs and says "RAAAR!" So, I really don't think I'm heading the princess route with her, but like I said, she is only one, so who knows!
So the big question is...did they sleep through the night??? YES! They have successfully slept through the night together 3 nights in a row! I am so relieved! I know they'll definitely have their nights, but this really helped ease me in to the whole deal. I think Brady loves having her in there, more for a comfort thing. So awesome! Yesterday I put them down for a nap at the same time (bedtime Halloran goes to bed first and then Brady later so she's already out cold), and I thought, I'll let them work it out. Halle babbled for about 5- 8 minutes and then all of a sudden, silence. For 2 1/2 hours! And thank goodness I was smart and decided to nap too!! And that's that.
