I am not going to lie, that on Friday May 1st, 2009, I needed a break. A break from what you ask? Not from work, or life, or from stress. A break from non-stop child pig-latin gibberish! It had been a long week. I started watching two other children, which was an adjustment, but a fairly easy one. But by Friday, I realized I was saying things to adults like,
"Aaaw, are you ok?" I think this may have even come out of my mommy mouth in regards to my husband, " Do you need to go potty?" (ok, I'm joking, but I have done that before...as a joke)
So anyway, I needed some adult time, some "I don't have an 11 month old hanging from my pant leg, a 2 year old girl going-on-fourteen screaming for her sippy cup with milk, a four year old boy asking why can't I go across the street like the other kids do" kind of break.
So.
My friend Sondra had asked if I wanted to go to the opening night of her husband Erick's new restaurant. So I found a sitter and off we went!
Sidenote: My husband Tom just got a job there and started today as a cook while he goes to culinary school!
So we got there and in the back door we went! Sondra was going to give me a tour when Erick goes, "Sorry guys, throw on an apron, we're packed and need your help!"
Well, ok! So we hopped on board and started cleaning dishes, serving water and drinks, taking an order or two, and listening to all of the excited people waiting to eat!
To make a long story short, about an hour and a half later, we sat down ourselves, to enjoy some of this delicious food that everyone was raving about! I ordered the rueben, and let me tell you this.

It was superb! Delicious! Scrumptious! I literally ate really, really slow because I did not want the flavor of the beef, sauce and buttered bread to leave my lips! Completely amazing! I wish you could bottle up, or even better, pop a horse sized pill that had your favorite flavors of certain dishes that you just needed a small "fix" now and then of, so that you didn't have to think about that particular meld of flavors until you were able to have it again!
I know why people get addicted to food. It is truly like a drug that you fixate on, especially when you are able to consume the best of the best.
So I beg you, if you are around 694 to Highway 100, to Brooklyn Blvd down by Victory and 44th...please, for your own happiness, please stop in at Victory 44.
You will not be dissapointed.
Unless they ask you to work first, for free.
:) Thanks Erick! I had a great time and the food was just what I expected it to be....fabulous!
