I'll miss the cows...

So I was at the chiropractor today, again, yes, more money spent. But, one thing she did talk to me about today was my skin. Now, I've been dealing with blemished skin since I was 12 years old! So if I did the math correctly that's 15 years. Wow. Anyway, she then asked if I drink a lot of milk or eat alot of dairy. Ummm, yeah! I almost said, duh, but instead I said "Yes I do, is that good or bad?" don't say bad, don't say bad..., "I thought so." she says. Then she went in to how she thinks I might be allergic to dairy...ALL DAIRY! She said she has seen alot of people switch to a non-dairy diet and their skin changes drastically.

SO. Tomorrow I go dairy product free (I can have butter...). And, I stop drinking pop. Because she told me pop is poison, worse than smoking. Maybe that means I can start smoking again?? :) No, just a dream.

The other big thing is, I have to try it for at least two months to see results! Let's just say I'll be so upset if I'm not allergic to it, and nothing happens. But, like I told her, I've tried everything for my face, Proactiv, antibiotics, creams, different face washes, masks, lotions, steaming...so I think I can try this. If it works, it will be life changing for me really. To have clear skin is my BIGGEST dream ever. I know it may sound vain, but live with looking like you are going through puberty for, well, 15 years and we'll see what you say!!

So since this is my last day dairy free, I've had a huge glass of milk and a cinnamon roll for breakast, a salad with RANCH dressing -I'll have to switch to vinagrette, tomato soup made with milk, a concrete mixer from Culver's and a box of charleston chews...my favorite! It is like when I quit smoking for the 1st time :) I smoked almost a whole pack on the way to the hypnotist (he was only a half an hour away!). But, I've been smoke free :) for over 4 years now. And if I can quit smoking, I, Megan Marie Bergman, can quit dairy.

I hope.

I can relate...my skin has never been great, but the worse part is that through the years it's gotten even WORSE! It has gotten more cystic and painful than ever - and like you said, you start to feel like an adolescent! I know how awful it is and so I am totally empathizing right now.

I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY started Accutane (this should have happened years ago!) and I'm in my 2nd month and I, for the first time in my life, LOOOOVVVVEEEE my skin. The oil is gone. Like GONE, GONE. And the cysts and blemishes are 99.999% gone. I can't get pregnant during treatment though, or I'll have mutant babies. ;)

Anyways, I really really really hope this non-dairy stuff works for you. Everyone is so different in the reasons they experience acne, and I know the way it affects people emotionally as well as physically. Keep me posted!

As I was reading this I was thinking...hmm I could do that. I could take calcium supplements to cover the lack of dairy intake...until you said no ranch. I am unsure if I am strong enough to kick ranch! BUT I am in the process of kicking pop! I use to drink at least 4 cans a day if not more, i am down to 1 or 2!! WOO HOO...now to just rid myself of it!
I pray this works for you and stay strong! NO SMOKING! :)

Ha Ha! Don't worry, I won't start smoking again! I can't stand the smell of it anymore anyway!! I've always told myself though that if I know my days are numbered, I'm going straight to the nearest gas station and grabbing a pack. Although, the urge for that idea is also losing it's grip on me. Guess that's a good thing!

Oh good luck! I love dairy a whole lot, so I wish you luck! I hope the chiropracter thing all goes well for you guys too! It's tough when doing things becomes so expensive. God will provide! Happy Valentine's Day!

There are two kinds of people: Part Two - The non-movers

Coffee cup in one hand, veggie/fruit smoothie in the other. No seriously, that's what I have on each side of me as I write. I'm smiling because of how funny this is, as it seems to also relate to this conundrum of a topic before us. There are two kinds of people, and there are definitely two kinds of beverages.  My caffeinated beverage on my left brings me a one sided joy that I cannot even begin to detail. I love my coffee. And I really do think it loves me back. At least for a while. As I peer out of the corner of my eye to the right, I see the greenish grainy drink to my right. Today the fennel seeds in it do not make it seem as dirty  I mean, like I just gathered them from the dirt without rinsing and sprinkled them in there kind of dirty. Maybe it was the splash of OJ I decided to add to it this morning. Now, I know that this drink loves me. It is good for many aspects of my life. Health, energy, sustenance, power. But I do not enjoy it as much. When I make my coffee

Who did we welcome home TODAY????

Shelby Capri Bergman 6 lbs. 5 oz. , 19.5 inches long May 30th, 2008 10:52 pm I just want you all to know that everything went picture perfect. She's beautiful, she's healthy and she's very content. I don't have a ton of pictures yet, my mom took pictures during delivery and I took some today when we got home, but since we don't have internet at home now, it will be slow coming! I had my membranes stripped at 9:45 am on Friday. Afterwards, Tom and I went to Walmart, Applebees's, my sister's classroom to help move some stuff (I supervised... I was a little sore), and then home. I took a nap and Tom started getting ready for supper. His 4 hour long, grilled ribs...and that is how the story begins! So we keep joking that I am going to go during his first trial run with the ribs. This starts at around 3:30 pm. Then, we run out of propane and start all over a

Still here...Day Two.

Well, I still miss my kids horribly. Especially this morning when I heard that Shelby was up alot during the night. She has not been up in the middle of the night in 3 weeks, and it made me feel guilty for leaving her. I felt and feel, like I should be home with them. I know the woman who is watching them, that if she hears even the slightest little peep out of the kids would go rushing in to their room. I really don't want Shelby to get used to someone picking her up in the middle of the night for little rustles and sighs. But maybe I am just anxious, and maybe it is not really that big of a deal. Maybe I should just enjoy my time with my thoughts, my books and my husband. But honestly, I am anxious because I feel like the can't live with out me (don't laugh, besides I know it's over dramatic:)), I haven't even attempted to pick up one of my books, and my husband is driving me nuts because it does not bother him one bit that we are 3 hours away from our little bund
